Abstract
The elderly population has increased, its prevalence and incidence have generated chronic-degenerative diseases that grow significantly. The objective of this study is to assess the functional capacity of the elderly and correlate with their lifestyle. Cross-sectional observational study, in which 12 elderly men and women participated. The study was carried out on the premises of the University Polyclinic of the Centro Universitário Adventista de São Paulo, UNASP-SP. All volunteers performed an assessment in the form of a lifestyle questionnaire, the Lawton scale, the Katz scale and the questionnaire on the risk of noncommunicable diseases. Assess lifestyle, ability and independence to perform activities of daily living. To assess the issue of patient fatigue, we used the Chalder scale. The main results of this study showed that functional capacity has strong relationships with lifestyle and that the presence of chronic diseases such as SAH and Diabetes reduces the functional capacity of individuals. And the risk of DM and SAH correlated with a negative lifestyle. A study that evaluated the functional capacity of elderly people over 60 years and lifestyle can conclude that functional capacity has strong relationships with lifestyle and that the presence of chronic diseases such as SAH and Diabetes reduces the functional capacity of individuals.
